A female lying on a road in the town of Ellicott on Friday has led to charges against a 48-year-old man.

At about 3:19 p.m., town of Ellicott police were called to a suspicious situation on West Oak Hill Road at Johnson Road after it was reported a male was standing above a teenager in the road. Responding officers located the vehicle matching the description being driven by Roman Arrance with a 16-year-old girl.

An investigation determined that Arrance had picked up the girl in the city of Jamestown and entered the town of Ellicott where the teen requested he stop the vehicle. Arrance refused and allegedly struck the girl in the head and began pulling her hair. At that time, the girl attempted to exit the vehicle. Arrance drove away leading to the girl falling out of the vehicle and her hand being run over.

Arrance was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful imprisonment, second-degree harassment and second-degree reckless endangerment. He will be in town court later.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department and the New York State Police assisted in the incident.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

— Zachary A. Wilson, 30, of Jamestown is facing third-degree criminal trespass charges.

At 10:13 p.m. Saturday while patrolling the area of Buffalo Street and Blackstone Avenue, an officer observed a male subject enter the railroad tracks through a wooded area off of Buffalo Street. The officer followed the subject who was headed westbound on the railroad tracks. The officer advised others in the area of the direction of travel of the subject, who then headed south toward Allen Street through a wooded area.

An officer located the subject exiting from behind a business and identified the subject as Wilson who also had multiple active bench warrants out of Jamestown Police Department. Wilson was taken into custody and transported to the city jail where he was held pending arraignment.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

— MAYVILLE — A village resident has been charged in a larceny that occurred last week.

On Jan. 2, deputies investigated a larceny that occurred at a business on Lakeview Avenue. Through further investigation, it was found that James D. Mawhir, 34,did steal property from the business. On Sunday, Mawhir was charged with petit larceny. He is to be in Town of Chautauqua court later.
